Retro Day Activities "Experiential Learning" providing students insight into the role technology played in managing businesses during the 1970s/1980s. 
 
“Retro-Day is an experiential learning day for the students in the Faculty of Business and Humanities. It will take place on Tuesday the 10th March from 9am to 4pm. The focus of the day will be on what it was like to manage a business in the 1970’s and 1980’s prior to the introduction of technology and real-time communications.
 
 

Participating lecturers will encourage discussion and enquiry into relevant subject areas pertinent to the retro period.

 

Time: 9.00- 10.00 (Years 1-3) 10.00-11.00 ( Years 1 & 4)

Blue skies session – reflection on learning for the day. How has business changed since the 1970’s/1980’s?

Guest speakers will be invited to engage with students on what business was like prior to desktop computers and real-time communications.

A range of activities will encourage students to carry out paper based research and investigations into entrepreneurial practices of that period.

Students will be encouraged to collate their observations and learning by participating in a blue skies session to conclude on the impact of technology on industry.

 

The use of technology in participating classes will not be encouraged, those who need to use technology will be requested to donate towards the nominated charity.

Our nominated charity is Laura Lynn, it is hoped that we can raise some money for terminally ill children through activities and donations.

     Location : Look around the college for LauraLynn Logo pictured on the right chairty stations.                                                                                  There will be plastic buckets on display, during each activities voluntary donations are encouragred.
